Keneally pledges 500k to pakistan to help children suffering from malnutrition who are suffering without help. He tells BBC News

"I just really believe in giving. You have to give up your day job to go out and give to other poor people so they can live a healthy lifestyle."

Image caption The first 100 families who donate to the charity will be sent a £20,000 gift certificate

Keneally said that the foundation had become an international community.

"We're a world-wide network, a community of about 80 million people," he says. "We believe that we're doing what we're supposed to do in a non-violent, non-repressive manner."

For his part, Keneally would like people to think twice before offering their generosity.

"If you give to charities that will just look after it because there's another person who has the same concern," he says.

When the charity asked for money and Keneally said he would give the full amount, a letter said it would only give money to someone with no other funds, Keneally says.

Then after a month Keneally realised what had happened - he had made a huge mistake. "My response was 'No I'm sorry I made you feel bad'."

Image caption The first 100 families who donate to the charity are not expected to receive anything

Keneally says that even though his charity had gone global it now needed more help.

One of its goals, Mr Keneally says, is to provide 100,000 child protection officers in the first year.

He believes that if there isn't enough help around the world at present it will take more people into the system that it's already there and help people to find their way home again.

The charity is also looking at the issue of missing children and, after a recent survey, will ask parents to put up an ID for their child, if possible.

    'Lives were disrupted'

A young girl, who wishes to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, says she had to go to the hospital three times after her mother told her to go back home, which she knew to be impossible because no one took her.

"People told me she told me to go back because they were going to take away my money," she says.

She added that one mother even locked her child in her car. "There was no water or food, no bed, no blanket, no clothes, nothing."

Image caption Many of the children suffer from a range of health problems

The mother was even warned by the police that she would be arrested if she returned home.

As a result the child has been moved t

Tasmanian workplace anti protest laws gutted, activists say

    Updated

A small group of activists and workers at an Australian plant accused executives of intimidating them during a protest march to defend their right to join a union.

Tasmania has one of the highest workplace anti-union laws in the country, aimed at preventing employees from forming a union.

The Tasmanian Labor Government says it has the right to stop union activity on industrial estate land, subject to community consensus, but it has failed in several similar cases.

For example, in 2006, the Federal Parliament rejected a Labor Government proposal to ban employees from being paid for making political contributions.

In August 2012, workers at a steel producer, BHP Billiton, staged a sit-in, which resulted in the company being raided and the firing of hundreds of workers.

They say they were subjected to racist, anti-foreigner, sexist and anti-refugee remarks.

Protesters say they were met by officers, who assaulted two workers who were in the picket line and threatened others.

It is believed the attacks were related to protests on the last stage of a strike.

There have been three strikes over the past four years, including the one this week, which affected BHP Billiton.

The company declined to comment for this report.

    'We've had zero protection'

Mark Hodge says he and several other workers are now in limbo after being targeted by police officers.

"They went in and took our weapons. They have been threatening that we're going to go back to where we were and we're going to start again," he said.

"We didn't even think that it was possible.

"They went to our office to see if we were there [on strike] but there was no notice. We've had zero protection."

A spokesman for Tasmania Police confirmed officers had attended the industrial estate, on Gorges Road, near the industrial hub of Kortt in North West.

A spokesman confirmed "a police investigation" was being led by their partner force the NSW Crime Commission.
